A shooting in Miami Gardens on Monday night left one man dead and his young child in the hospital.

Officials were dispatched to the shooting just before 9 p.m. in the 18700 block of NW 23rd Avenue, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

Miami Gardens Police say 27-year-old Darin Williams died overnight at Ryder Trauma Center from his injuries while his 22-month-old son remains in stable condition.

Investigators say it appeared that four men arrived at the scene with multiple firearms, opening fire before fleeing in a dark colored sedan with tinted windows and a paper tag.

"It's sad, it's depressing, it's alarming," said Maxine Soley, who initially thought the gunshots were fireworks. "This used to be very quiet nice neighborhood. I don't know why this is happening."
