Heat Star Dwyane Wade and Wife Gabrielle Union Land TV Gig

Miami Heat All-Star Dwyane Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union will be the focal point of an upcoming show on the cable network HGTV.

The new show was announced on Wednesday as part of the HGTV's 2016 lineup. The show does not have a premiere date yet, and it also appears to have a placeholder title at this time. Currently, Wade's show is being referred to as simply "Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade Project." It is common for future television shows to be referred to in this manner early on.

The show is described as a celebrity version of a house flipping show. HGTV currently airs a show titled "Flip or Flop" which focuses on house flippers Tarek and Christina El Moussa. Wade and Union would add an element of star power to the concept. The current show on HGTV is considered a success in its genre.

"Actress Gabrielle Union and Miami Heat player Dwyane Wade are beginning a passion project -- flipping homes. Follow along as they renovate, revitalize and resell a home in a suburban Florida neighborhood," reads an official description of the show from HGTV.

Following the announcement from the network, Wade took to Twitter to comment on his new endeavor as well.

Union is a well accomplished actress who currently stars on "Being Mary Jane" on BET. Back in 2014 when the duo married each other, Union broached the subject of doing a reality show with her new husband. Interestingly, Union referenced HGTV in her comment at the time.

"The kind of things that we would want to do for reality TV are the kinds of things that get shows canceled quickly," Union said. "Like travel shows or a cooking show – nothing that anyone would want to see us doing. A cuddle show, where we just cuddle and watch HGTV. That would be like our saucy reality show."

For now, Wade is focused more on taking his team to the playoffs. Miami is currently in the hunt for a top-four seed in the Eastern Conference.
