Fort Lauderdale Considers Lifting Sunday Morning Alcohol Sale Ban

For years, residents in Fort Lauderdale have had to wait until the clock hit noon on Sundays before being able to purchase alcohol from grocery stores, liquor stores and gas stations. That may all be changing in the near future.

City Commissioners will discuss a proposal during their Tuesday meeting to lift that ban. Doing so would make Sunday like any other day of the week, when alcohol sales can begin at 7 AM.

No vote will be taken at this meeting, but one could be scheduled for the future.

Five years ago, commissioners voted to lift the ban for hotels and restaurants, since the alcohol is served on site at those establishments.
